2025年5月30日，马来西亚在联合国人居署大会主席国选举中，以全票支持的压倒性优势，成功当选为新一届主席国，首次领导联合国人居署193个成员国，写下国家外交史上的重要篇章。 此次选举在肯尼亚首都内罗毕举行，由房屋及地方政府部长倪可敏率领的马来西亚代表团接棒拉丁美洲及加勒比海国家集团——墨西哥的职位，正式成为新任联合国人居署大会主席国。 倪可敏也因此成为马来西亚史上首位领导联合国机构的华裔领袖，成功创造历史新纪录。 倪可敏在成功当选后表示：“这不仅是对我国城市治理经验的重大肯定，也彰显马来西亚在当今全球事务中日益增长的地位及影响力。” 他指出，马来西亚将与阿联酋共同领导联合国人居署大会，并一同担任联合国人居署执行理事会成员，参与全球城市发展政策规划与领导，共同推进联合国永续发展议程。 作为新任主席国，马来西亚将着重推动多层级城市治理、扩大全球南方合作、加强可负担房屋建设、缩小城市不平等，并强化《新城市议程》及城市翻新的落实。 联合国人居署大会是联合国在可持续城市化与人类居住议题上的最高决策机构。人居署成立于1975年，半世纪以来一直致力于推动社会与环境可持续发展，确保人人都能拥有安全、宜居的居住环境，该机构总部设在内罗毕，是联合国属下其中一个最重要的机构。 此次当选也标志着马来西亚继1996年丹斯里拉查里依布拉欣担任联合国大会主席后，再次在联合国重要机构中担任领导角色，展现了国家在国际事务中的积极参与和影响力。 马来西亚政府表示，将充分利用这一平台，分享国家在可负担房屋建设、城市更新和环境可持续发展等方面的成功经验，与全球伙伴共同推动实现联合国2030年可持续发展目标。 此次当选不仅提升了马来西亚在国际舞台上的地位，也为国家在全球城市发展政策制定中提供了更大的话语权和影响力。 On May 30, 2025, Malaysia achieved a significant diplomatic milestone by being unanimously elected as the President of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Assembly for the 2025–2029 term.
